I'm afraid that your checked letters are wrong - the first letter of 1a is an A and the second letter of 18d is a P.

1a wordplay - common abbreviation for sailor + word for [a] drunk

18d wordplay - 4-letter word meaning '[to] box' + 3-letter word meaning 'browny[-coloured]'
