I think aristo's wordplay is best with skipper I now know to be a gun (thanks Google) but dont see the navigator necessarily being skipper so my vote goes to
ros @ 8.

ginge: I figured that the skipper of a small boat is almost invariably the navigator, and I did find the words used as synonyms. And here I thought I had the surface read nailed this week! :) Delusional...
