Now, I was not certain about "blue/livid", but I think there is an expression, "blue in the face", if you go wild.
So that convinced me!

We could go blue in the face because of the big helpings of spam. Blue = livid is the second definition in Chambers, that surprised me.

I remember a TV series, years ago, about Aussie troops fighting in Europe.
One of the lads had ginger hair, and he was called "Bluey".
I have no idea why the Aussies call gingers, "Bluey".
