Hi, my usual problem! 8 Across - "State that girl has embraced boy" (9) would have to be "Louisiana" which obviously encompasses Louis - but the girl's name? 24 Across - "Exercise after sport with European coin" - just got it! - thought it was a European coin (Rubel, which made no sense) but NO - Rugby Union + PE + E(uropean)! "D'oh!"

The girl is LOUISA, around the boy. IAN
