I enjoyed this one but wouldn't have got there without the help of this forum so thanks to contributors.
I have an answer for 1d but can't fully parse it. Maybe I have mis smelt it! Anyone care to enlighten me?

ah thanks, I had taken the wrong definition and put a different letter at the end, so I did mis-smell it! No wonder it wouldn't parse!
