Stuck on the themed clue at 31 dn. I have ?A?LER. Any hints welcome.

Yer man is obvious I know but I only had 2 names for each of the other linked sets:10dn, 28 ac. and 25a, 42ac. I don't see how this tallies up with the preamble.

Perhaps I'm just being dim - it has been known.

10d , 25a and 42a for the "women"

21d, 37d, 35a for the "wine"

3 composers for the"song" .. highlight 27d

I had 'Yodel' at 35ac. and aria at 42 ac. which sort of made sense. Inventing a Japanese sauce called 'Toyama' at 30 dn. didn't. To err is to be human. :-)
