Can't fully parse these:-
1 Across - "Garments made initially out of loose dresses"
SACKS
4 Across:- "What comes next when learner enters game"
CURLING
42 Across:- "Big laugh from Bard uncovered" ROAR

4 Curing - the next answer was remedying, add L. for learner.

Socks - smocks with m(ade) initially removed

1 Socks, garments - from Smocks, loose dresses, take the 'm' from 'Made' (initially).

Thanks to one and all! I wondered where "CURING" was
coming from! (very sneaky!) And I also had "SOCKS" in mind, but considered them apparel rather than garments.
