Think I have finished but cannot work out parsing on three:

46A : Elder sometimes seen in front of monument (7). I have ANCIENT but why?

10D : Chap failing to work on field (6). I have DODGER

11D : For beginners, how to read Faust, unusually not for fun (9). I have INITIALLY

Any help with parsing appreciated!

46 A; "ancient" is both a noun and an adjective e- this is a double definition.
10d: the answer is "Dudley" = chap (def)
dud - failing to work
ley- field

You're welcome, Cannyannie!
Re 11d:
I have "initially" myself for the answer, but I am afraid I cannot parse it , either!

Hi Elle, I think it might refer to the way beginners in English might learn, so 'Initial' letters of F(aust) U(sually) N(ot) = FUN - I think!?
