Come to this one very late, but have managed to complete the grid bar 2 down. I have '?I?e'. Would appreciate any hint . The clue is 'Award for towering virtuoso, extolling beginnings'. The wordplay would include the word 'ant'.

Sorry the last sentence should be , the word 'ant' must be removed from the result of the wordplay. Hope that makes more sense. Cheers.
