??U?D?T?O? presumably FOUNDATION as foundation cream, the bottom layer of slap = makeup ?

If so, then 6a "Cold East German parts get very hot" (6) would be
F???T? All I can guess is FROSTY for cold but can't parse it.

Any help much appreciated

6 It's Fry, get very hot, with Ost, East in German/Germany.

Slap is a slang word for make-up in general, so Foundation - and Foundation is also the bottom, base of things.
