Stuck on the lower left hand corner.

19d: bear cost of offer. (6). Afford seems to fit, but why?

20d: expression of surprise over gardener’s latest story after loss of a shrub. (6). Myrtle?

Think I’ve figured out the rest.

Thanks!

I think 19d is just a double definition.

20d Yes, MYRTLE - MY (Expression of surprise) + (gardene)R + T(a)LE ('Story' with loss of the letter A)

Afford - to bear the cost of and also offer.

The Hotel window afforded views of the harbour.

My! + (gardene)r + t(a)le

MY! (surprise) gardeneR's last, T(a)LE

I have AFFORD, but not entirely convin ced. I suppose it means "bear cost", and also "offer" as in "afford an opportunity"
