All done but I fail to see the wordplay for 4d.
OK the answer is a French word for Future.
First 4 letters are from a shiny black bird with wings clipped.
I assume final 2 letters are IR, but why is R additional letter

Shiny black is raven- extra r in wordplay- aven

Bird wings clipped- take the first and last letters from bird to give you the IR

I was clipping the RAVEN and not the BIRD!!!
