First time trying this - sooo hard!
So many I can’t get but I’ll start with one that might open up others:

6D. Primordial events are sounds emitted by large cannons (8)
B?????G?

Might it be split into two words? BIG BANGS?

Bigbangs, primordial events? Big, large and Bangs, cannons.

I've just checked Chambers and only Big Bang is given - not only two words, but also capitalised. If Bigbangs is the correct answer, it seems a poor crossword!

One theory is of a cyclic Universe in which the Big Bang recurs (following a "big crunch"), malone - hence BIG BANGS might be OK!

I still don't like it, ChrisE - the plural doesn't bother me, but the rest of it does!

Phosphor. Phos are noodle soup (Pho, Thai stuff I think) +PH, alkalinity +Or, in clue.

Sorry, Phos = the plural of Pho, a Vietnamese noodle soup.
