I am late in joining in as usual. I have an excuse this week as I was also doing some decorating. I have the names of the gang but am struggling with two unclued entries (1D and the one on the third line). Also the clued 4D is proving elusive. Any gentle hints would be appreciated.

1d links with General & extra word in 17d

Middle row joins Gordon & extra word in 30a

4d Fat has a misprint and should be Fit and the word means a sensation before epilepsy or fit.

Have a few loose ends to tie up so I may be back.

I just highlighted the two clued words in the grid and wrote the author's name at the bottom of the grid.
I am now thinking whether we were required to change the two words to reveal the author's name in the grid itself?
Any thoughts?
