There shouldn't have been an A after the 'about'.

I just typed it as it’s written Rossim. But from what I gather, some of these clues aren’t the best:)

The same Alpha puzzle is in the Express which I have completed today.

I don't know if the Xword setter writes the Alpha puzzle or not. But He/She may be New.

Much preferred the Old Setter or the way they used to set.

Ps. RE the Alpha puzzle Yidreg. Does the clue answer always go in the 1A position as it has done so today. Or can it end up anywhere on the grid ?

Hi Shooty. The clue can be anywhere in the grid. Today was easy to find where it goes because there is only 4 8 letter words, and the sequence of numbers are all different. Meaning enquiries will only fit 1 of them:)

Rossim, I bet this was the same setter who put an unnecessary 'a' in one of last week's puzzles, another anagram one!

Thanks yidreg. I normally just do the xword. But had some time on my hands today so completed the Alpha puzzle also.

I thought that was the case. It's just that the one time I attempt it. The clue word went in the 1A position.
Maybe thats an omen for me to have a regular go (Although I do prefer a good crossword)
