The puzzle this week was relatively easy, but whilst I've completed it I'm unable to fully parse the answer to:

26a French writer possibly alone after grabbing party in Pretoria (7,6)

I have A?A?O?E ?R?N?E giving me ANATOLE FRANCE

I'd be grateful for some help on sorting this one. I can see that the letters of 'alone' are in there and also ANC and possibly NATAL but these may or may not be relevant.

I haven't written it out, but it looks as if it's an anagram of ALONE AFTER with ANC inside.

Many thanks for your assistance Chrise.
