1d Works hard - anagram

I don’t do this crossword but 1d is an anagram of dr who’s ark and defn isntoils

2d flatlands?

Thanks guys for replying so promptly. I did have a wrong answer in as I suspected, and Works Hard is obvious answer. 2 d is Platitude, and I think 13 ac is Hitch, but can't parse.
Stuck still on 6d (4) Burning car a- t- Auto??

Auto is also short for auto-da-fé (public burning)

I’m a bit stuck with 23 ac that looks like it ought to be “The living” which I can’t parse.

19d then becomes -h-e and can’t really think of much other than “thee” which is Spenserian for “to thrive, to prosper” which doesn’t really fit with “easy”.

I have "ethe" for 19d and "it's living" for 23a. May be wrong.

19d spot on skye. An alternative spelling for eath.

I think hitch is right for 13a = Hitchcock = director

For 13A think of the nickname for the director of many thriller films.
