I'm not sure if the absence of posts means very much one way or the other, although I would say that this week's is less taxing than last week's,

I'm stuck on 5 in the middle top & wonder if anyone has any cogent ideas for these two :

??C?D????? (This may just be ARCHDEACON but I can't parse it)
Nor can I get it to agree with anything for :
8D - Brown was his trunk, heading off from Oxford College (10)

All I can produce for this is CHESTERTON which is quite meaningless & doesn't fit in with ARCHDEACON
