mikey - I worried about that too but I think the clue is trying to be "&lit", where the whole thing is both wordplay and definition. In word play this clue is "endless glory" (= splendor) "surrounding am" = American. In definition it is "endless splendor surrounding" = glamor, with the explanation that it is in the American spelling.

"G" for good.
