3 (d) I think is idiot but no idea why. Mug I found under papers on book (5).

Help in parsing my last one appreciated

Figure must be polygon I think, but don't get the rest of the clue.

I think it must be "poly" for plastic (but it should be "polymer"), then "go" = "crack" (have a go/crack at), then N for knight in chess notration.

Poor clue!

Norrier, poly is informal short for polythene, so your parsing is spot on, supported by both Chambers and Collins. Think eg poly bags.

OT is clued by books in the printed version, as it is a collection of books.
