I have all but one of the unstarred clues. I have six of the starred clues. I have the unclued 21d. But as to what to do with the other five I haven't a clue! Any hints please?

It's just occurred to me that 21d could be read as 4, 2 instead of 3, 3....

I have most of the un-asterisked clues, five of the asterisked and think I know what 21d is. But I don't understand the second sentence of the instructions. Should it say, "...the OTHER five clues..."?

So what is the difference between the 6 asterisked clues and the other 5?

There are six undefined clues (eg 2d) forming a group named at 21d. There five fairly normal clues (eg 11a) where the defined solution needs something done to it before you enter it. The "something" comes from reading 21d differently (as I suddenly realised - see above) and the wordplay refers to the solution as altered.

Hope this helps a bit without spoiling the fun.
