Help please with parsing my LOI:
11a It makes one sick, withdrawing article in city. (6j

I have the right answer of emetic, which makes one sick. I cannot get a city with presumably a, an or the removed and written backwards? No doubt blindingly obvious!

Thanks.

The article is Item and the city is EC, used in crosswords quite often.

Elle and Malone - many thanks for the quick, clear replies. I was obviously on the wrong track with the article and, yes, know EC well but brain clearly not fully engaged!

Tennis... glad I could help. I knew you had no problems with the 'emetic = makes one sick', so I concentrated on the rest!
