I don't have many letters and what I do have may be wrong.

It looks like STATUE OF LIBERTY if your G is wrong. I haven't parsed it yet, though.

The clue was 'show big wheel's fit to leave ground' (9)

Which letters do you now have placed?

Chrise, the answer to that was Airworthy, fit to leave ground. Air/show+ worthy, big wheel/boss.
