Whilst I have the solution to the following clue, and can see much of the word play, the complete explanation escapes me:

1d Drama series very much appreciated by each generation (5,6)

Answer is SOAP OPERA but I would be grateful for assistance in unraveling the word play.

OMG! I do apologise, my mind was elsewhere obviously when posting that, and yes of course it should read (4,5)

Sarumite, when I do things like that I call them "senior moments"!
Now, this is my attempt at a parse.
"Very much" is "so".
"Each" could be the slang term "a pop" meaning "for one".
(As in "50 pence a pop")
"Generation" could be "era"
"So a pop era"
Soap opera.

Many thanks for your reply Rusty, and for providing a possible answer to the wordplay.

I had previously considered very much = SO and also ERA related to generation, but of course each could also be defined as PER which simply clouds the situation.

However, your suggestion is the best I have at present, so once again many thanks!

Hope I was a wee help, Sarumite.
"Lovely apples, 50 pence a pop," was my thinking for "each"!
