Really stuck with this one.

Could you confirm the number of letters and that it is all one word?

It doesn't seem to fit but I am thinking along the lines of a bishop = a Monsignor, Monseigneur or Monsignore. Just a thought.

I think it's MARRIAGES - which would make the e wrong.

I had LOUSEWORT instead of LIVERWORT for 14a - both fit in with clue.

Francis - I'm sure marriages is right. a bishop = RR. I'm upset about = marri, then ages.
