Someone asked this earlier and I suggested Male, boyish. I thought it was Morale, optimism, with the 'r' removed for 'rector expresses'. The 'o' was the extra letter.

The answer is male

Morale (optimism) with r (rector) removed or expressed.

O is an extra letter as per preamble

That leaves male- boyish

Samovar-

15d - a synonym for ' to handle' + another word for 'to prepare skins' minus a T. Definition is a shaman.

11d - I have the answer but only because I had mist of the adjoining letters - I couldn't parse it. Definition is 'Medicine provider' and I think the drug is E.

'Most', not 'mist' lol. Ahh the strange ways that predictive text works always makes me smile...
