15a Cautious line taken by US general (5).
I think the answer must be "leery" but if it is, I'm not impressed. "Ry" is line, and "lee" is the US general, except that he wasn't, General Lee fought for the Confederacy, the enemy of the US. Am I missing something?

You're being precise and there's nothing wrong with that - he was American, hence US and was General in Chief.

I think he was offered the post of Commander-in-Chief by both sides in the Civil War!

You're right ChrisE, Lincoln did offer Lee a command in the Union army, but he turned it down and chose to fight for his state, Virginia, in the Confederacy.
It's also correct that he served in the United States army before the Civil War but to call him a US general when he was the most successful general of the Confederate States seems pretty wonky to me.

Remember, this is a cryptic clue, and you are treating it too literally, as Mamya has stated

Would appreciate help parsing these....

25a System satisfied stretcher bearer (6) - METHOD (System)

I think 'Satisfied' = MET, but that leaves HOD for 'Stretcher bearer'. I've looked up the various definitions in the online dictionary but to no avail.

24d Name tabs an indicator of first name? (3) - NEE (First name)
