Can anyone help on the clue beginning with k -Did he have a basic plan to execute. I have ke-c-
Also the S. Is it Sherman and if so why?

Sorry for the delay - lost power on iPad. Had to boot up laptop.

At the front S (pineless) + Herman (German) I think !

I disagree that the clue for KETCH is poor. Jack Ketch the hangman is general knowledge and a ketch is a common boat. Two good hits make for immediate ink. No pencil for this one!
