10ac. Opening second round in bad temper (5)
I have S_R_P and just don't seem to get the clue for the various possibilities.

strop?

port s backwards i think.

I thought of that but couldn't fit it totally with the clue, but now that you mention it I assume that the opening is a port, however my dictionary (Canada) does not have strop as bad-tempered. Must be a form of stroppy.

UK usage: "strop" is a bad temper, as in "he's in a terrible strop".
