I've struggled ages with 6 down.

Spoilt on poodles, big ruby (7-5)

I have P?G?O?S ???O?

It must be an anagram, possibly giving "ruby"

I would grateful if someone can put me out of my misery.

Also 43 across. Check certain to control strained setter.(10,8)

I think is { Reinforced Concrete } but I can't parse it beyond ( Rein for Check )

Pigeons blood (type of ruby)

Rein (check) forced (strained) concrete (certain)

Thanks Zozozo I was blinded by not realising "certain" could be "concrete". Hopefully I will be able to finish this one now.
