Probably too late to get advice but can someone explain the wordplay in 6 down SINGLETON and 12 down CLANDESTINE?

Thanks Mamya. Stupid of me not to get 6! As to 12 I must be the thickest of the thick today because I don' t quite understand your answer? I had worked out CE and IN but still cannot understand LANDEST.

I agree, it's clear - it' seems to be implying an archaic use of langue.


Art - Art thou but I agree the tense feels wrong.


Landest thou? Have you turned up.




I'll stop digging now, best I can manage.
