I was wondering if anyone might help me with the following:

1a- One's about a month in arrears. Agree?

22d- Be up in time for the discussion

I'm very new to cryptic crosswords, so I would be grateful if you could explain how you worked out these clues. Thank you for your help.

apostle = messenger ale = beer round post=job

1a accede ace = one round dec backwards

DEBATE - discussion

BE < up -as it is a down clue

DATE = time

D EB ATE

Thank you all for your help, and for your explanations. I was on the right track for accede, but I doubt I would ever have gotten the other two.

Now I'm stuck on the last three.

15a - Be rejected - that's bad
(4) E-I- is it evil?
28a - A beating leaves a permanent impression on one (6) -a-a-o
30a - The Pope goes out to meet the French nation
(6) -e-d-e

Evil is correct. LIVE (be) < rejected = EVIL (bad)

Tattoo - permanent impression. Also the beat of a drum.

People - Nation..Anagram -indicated by 'goes out'
POPE + LE (The in French)
