I'm stuck with 25ac. Fiat's big guns touring Italy. O???N?T?E. Quick solve doesn't help so I figure it's something Italian maybe. Of course I can't solve 23d, just have the J.

18d is a noun, not a verb.
23d is a 2-word homophone, def. is a 'sport'

Baffled by 22a. I know what the answer must be, but I can't make head or tail of the clue. Some connection with a messenger? Or a thermometer? A defunct telecoms company? Or - most likely - a gap in my general knowledge. Someone please explain.

Can some kindly but brainier soul than I am please explain 22ac Exceptionally huge (7)? I got the answer, one of the eight, by default but for the life of me I can see the reasoning behind the clue. Compared to its "companions", exceptionally huge it ain't. Thanks in anticipation.
