I agree with JimC on this one, some people specifically ask how the answer is arrived at.

I think this is obviously a question that resonders to a query make up their own minds on. I'm not happy about giving a complete answer to a clue from a current prize crossword. I'm quite happy to give a further (and perhaps easier) clue, but I have noticed instances of requests for say, 6 - 7 - 8 answers in a crossword only just published. An easy way to do a crossword!

I was commenting on the post by the OP not on those of the 'answerers'I was not in anyway getting at the people who have innocently replied to questions from GBQ or GFQ which are under the guise of crosswords.
