Please can anyone explain -

9a Setter almost back on the Guardian's scent (5)

I have O?O?R, so ODOUR looks good for the scent, but I don't get the rest?

A setter is a dog.
Almost back = OD
Guardian = OUR

OD OUR =scent

Sorry everyone, I've just seen the answer in a previous thread - setter = do(g)(back) + our

Not a very good clue in my opinion.
