Thanks Kirky, crossword complete now. Not sure about the parsing for 8dn. I get the join forces bit but don't get the bit about leader on border.

I think it's (m)en (soldiers without leader) + list (border)

French [that] inside a word for dull = an artist's model.

5d Shut up about learner, one absorbed in text (10)
I have ???E?L???D

Shut up - locked in (often for political reasons) - around abb. for learner + i (one)

Many thanks mamya
It took a while as I couldn't remember thename for an artist's model. I kept thinking it was Raquette, but it didn't fit the clue. Light finally dawned this morning.

I've 5d as well, but it is not a meaning I know for text.

This means I finished, but am still not sure about parsing someof the other clues. I started by thinking this crossword was easy.

I've finished this and most of it has been fairly straightforward. However, I'm having trouble parsing 19d.
From the letters I have, user must be the definition. I just cannot make out the rest.

Little change refers to pre decimalisation - an old penny - inside a and shortened term for a dictionary (definitive word)
