I've just picked up the paper to do the sudoku. 11d is the "new" clue in it.

(I'm a subscriber, so I get the paper every day, but I generally do the crossword on a printout so that the rest of the family can read the paper. It gives me more space, too.)

Re 11d, I had parsed it as scorpiojo indicated but didn't see a definition or understand the relevance of the square brackets.

I may have been over-generous with my 'secondary theme' suggestion. There's a lot of TV-related material in clues and solutions. I counted 7 clues.

Your letters are correct, hywel. The Guardian has provided two different clues to the same answer!
