?I?D can only see MILD for dark beer and mildew as the plant fungus but the half bit doesn't seem to quite work

39a "Lawyers not stumped by obstacle" (7)

B?R?i?R looks like it must be BARRIER with BAR giving the lawyers, but don't see the not stumped bit

Any help much appreciated
