I remember an evening at the St. Lawrence Folk Club in Cambridge (a doctrinaire traditional club) in the early 70s, when a floor singer announced that he was going to sing "A hard rain's gonna fall". He further said that he could never remember all the words, so he would make them up as he went along. He wasn't well-received!

Hi Chrise
Like Cymru I'm stuck on three in top right. I got 20ac, but not 10ac Money raised orally (5). I have ????D.

Despite your hints for 6d and 7d, I'm no further forward. Any more hints please.

Hi roof
10 is a straight "sounds like" - slang term for "money".

7 the "rock band" is of the mineral variety

I don't think I can give another hint for 6 without giving the answer - you will see it when you've got 10, though.

Many thanks Chrise
I got 10ac before reading your reply. I think I've got 6d as well. Thanks for the hint on 7d. I'll work on that after I've finished cooking.

But how long, babe
Can you search for what’s not lost?
Everybody will help you
Some people are very kind
But if you can save me any time
Come on, give it to me*
I’ll keep it with mine

*22 across

(It's a wonder that I still know how to breathe)

I bought my second favourite Dylan album "Blood on the tracks" (just behind "Blonde on blonde") after reading Douglas Adams's "Long dark teatime of the soul". I forget the exact quote, but he described our house and said he thought he would find every Dylan album up to "Blood on the tracks" somewhere - I thought "I don't have that one"!

Ha, good one Chrise.
My convoluted post earlier was actually an appeal for help with 22 across. Anyone?

I've finally got round to this and am stuck with the bottom corner.

22d State of departments dictator cut, note. I've got ??m?c? and am assuming it's the same theme as the others in 11ac??

22ac In spite of hints already given I'm still stumped. Energy put into hit since holidays. I've got ??e???s
