37d Interval of eight days starting with a festival (6) O?T?V? OCTAVE is an interval of eight. OCT could be days. So is VE being defined as a festival?

No, I don't think VE has anything to do with it. Chambers says an octave is 'the last day of eight beginning with a festival...'

The Times answers are usually all in Chambers. VE isn't and to me it doesn't really fit 'festival' anyway. I could be wrong- I often am!
