Are you sure of the J? Slug is both a blow and a draught (drink)?

I think AB is right with "slug"?
What is the clue that gave you the "J"?

Beanpole, muddy, mostly working out, by the sound of it (4,3)...... gives 'slim jim' ?

This puzzled me and I did not have the crossword. It would appear that "Beanpole, muddy, mostly working out, by the sound of it " to which Slim Jim is the answer, is 18 down, but Blow a draught is 18 across. Could there be some confusion?

There must be yes

Slug/Slim Jim

Both start in the same square.

I may be able to help here.
I feel that the wrong clue has been entered by mistake in the wrong place by crossandown as 25a is also (4,3) and the answer is Jump Jet, maybe Jump Jet has been entered in 18d giving the beginning 'J'
Easy to see how it was mis-entered as 'Slug' / Jump Jet / Slim jim all cross each other.

Les40, thanks for that. I knew I'd had no problems with clashes when I did this crossword, but I've no longer got the paper, so couldn't unscramble it all for this thread.
