But does it have a PONY in the middle? I need lots of help today. 7d, Cruise say where colonists get transported around island. ?????T???G?S? My anagramming and guessing powers are too taxed by this. Also 1d, English town flier supporting spy novelist. ??????O? ??Z?A?D. Is the definition English town or novelist? I don't have enough to go on for either. This will be a start if I get very helpful clues.

7d Cruise is Tom of that ilk, famous for membership of...?

You've left out a bit of the clue for 1d. The definition is the town. It's quite a nice clue, in fact.

Yes, 1d is very clever and now I know there's an English town with a very funny name, thanks to my search engine. Merci for the clue about Cruise; I was not thinking that way.

I took it as SPAIN with the S going to the end - not convinced, though.
