Stuck on last one and would love help on parsing one.
29 D Statesman getting airtime for broadcast (7)
E?I?A?I
46 D Collared by drunk, one's getting up to leave (7)
This I can see is Deposit/ leave but am struggling with the rest of the parse
Not sure I get the parse for the 29d. I saw that emirati fitted but they are a people surely? Is the broadcast saying it sounds like? If so what? Still confused!
Broadcast is an anagrind indicating that the solution is an anagram of airtime. Statesmen can be read as people of a state rather than statesmen per se
Don't think I'd quite go to the lengths tango suggests: but it IS a somewhat annoying crossword. I still need help with everything in the bottom l.h. corner. I think 47a "Heading off for a change, drunken sailors get attached to such a place" would help unlock the rest. All I've got so far is A?C????? and possibly finishing with an I ... if 36d is STEPSISTER - which I'm beginning to doubt. And 52a would almost certainly clinch it: "I'll wear trousers I'm adjusting that could be sprayed on!" for which all I've got is M?I???????R.
