I am still struggling with this one I am afraid. I have just about completed B and made good progress on C but currently D is a blank and only have 3 answers in A. Could somebody give me a clue to 6a or 9 a in block A. I am sure 9a is an anagram of TELLGRANT wuth a couple of letters missing but I am drawing a blank

9a. "drop" both "T"s.

Mandyrob0704: In 6a, the letters to remove are the first "e" of "every" and the "n" in "snug". The answer to the clue then involves using a common abbreviation and moving one letter to produce a Cornish miners' word for "cavities".

Having finished it I am unable to parse 40 in quadrant D. I agree with Meursault's comment, the first post on this thread. A very good puzzle with a variety of challenges and some ingenious ways of imparting instructions and information. For me definitely the puzzle of the year so far.
