20 across: Letter-writer's way with heartbroken recipient of one ? (2,4)

I have ?t ?o?n, so it looks like St John (or St Joan?) with st for way, but cannot parse it. Grateful for any help. Thanks in advance.

St John, epistles, letters, holy stuff. St = Way, street, and John is 'heartbroken recipient' - a Dear John letter is one telling you you're being dumped.

Marginally better than a text I suppose!
