Just two remaining that bamboozle me. 39a "Presenter fees will incur gasp of astonishment": I've got C? - H?C? (but this may not be right). And 20a "US city friend loves to welcome a military officer": ?O?O ?L?O. I'm sure they're both obvious ... but can someone put me out of my misery please?

Thanks to all. Unfortunately I'd got what are obviously wrong answers to 7d (unresponsive) and 25d (saw bench). So ... we ain't done yet! I will re-visit those before appealing for more help!
