Stuck on my last one, 27A - "Unit 3, nervy? Oddly not (5)"

I have _E_R_ and no clue what I'm looking for so any hints would be much appreciated!

Thanks

It's an electrical unit, named after a scientist.

I can't get the obvious answer to 3d to cross with the anagram at 9a. What have I done wrong?

It works OK for me, Jack - the common letter is D

Thanks. I'm dozy today - double letter in the wrong place, thus producing something unhelpfully 13! I'd better 9 and 22 it.

Can't make headway on my last two, 5D and 8A. Thought 5D was anagram of ado+o+be ?
5D Much ado about nothing, including 2 from the beginning (5,2). .?/?A?O
8A Pester 25 across's uncle (5) ???R? (25A = George?)

Much but not all of 'ado', turned about, plus 'nothing' and including a type of 2. You were using one O too many.
Defn is a musical term.
