Help with 23d would be appreciate. Clue is...Wild, but not flapping? (8). I have ?N?I?G?D.

Is it UNWINGED i.e. Birds in the wild, no wings so nothing to flapping?
or is it UNRIGGED as in "not a put up job" therefore natural or wild and ships with no rigging have no sails to flap.
or is it UNHINGED being mad or wild and e.g. a door with no hinges is unable to flap?

surely it's unhinged? the only decent synonym of wild.
