Good Morning Ladies & Gents,

Finished today's cryptic crossword but struggling to understand a couple of the clues and I would very much appreciate an explanation on the following.

Many a strange swaying motion 4 & 4, it's produced by percussion instrument D-u- r-l- It must be drum roll. Roll = swaying???

Poem finished put away 3 & 2 LAY UP To lay up is to put away but where is the poem connection? unless poem (p) is part of up.

Blessings.

Lay as in Lay of the Last Minstrel - at least I hope Scott meant Lay = poem!

chrisg, Sudokulover and Jo,

I am most grateful to the three of you for enlightening me.- thank you very much.

I did not know that d = many. Can now go to the match a happy chappie - let us hope I am just as cheerful on the way home.

Have a lovely day,

Blessings.
