I'm struggling with 42 a).
Make changes to satellite-upgrade an instrument (5,5,6).
I have so far P?D?L ?T?E? B?I???
I'm not confident with the B coming from my guess at 37 d). doubletree to the clue " American crosspiece made by only one elder, perhaps" (10)
I thought 42 a). would be an anagram of satellite - upgrade which has no 'B'
Grateful if anyone can show me the light.

37 - 'only one' so 'double' is wrong.
